San Andres is Colombian and belongs to the archipelago of San Andres, Providencia and Santa Catalina. Due to its size it is the largest department in the country accounting for one fifth of the total area of the state (250,000 square kilometers). It is 800 km in the west-northwest of Cartagena and within 150 km of Nicaragua.
For its natural and biological diversity, UNESCO, declared San Andres : Seaflower Biosphere Reserve in November 2000. The joint efforts of his community and its institutions, have made progress in the rescue, preservation and protection of nature. The incredible transparency of its waters and shades of seven blue, making it, one of most beautiful lagoons of the Caribbean. This is also the resort of the Colombians who divide their time between the white sand beaches and the nights of Rumba.
